I am located in Olivehurst, Ca about 42 miles north of Sacramento.  The drive from Sacramento offers a view of the Sutter Buttes, the world's smallest complete mountain range.  In the fall during harvest you will see fields of golden rice, and in the winter these fields are often flooded to accomodate many varieties of water fowl including several species of Canadian geese, many more of duck, and also swans.  So bring a camera.  In the spring the rice is green, The orchards are in bloom, the land flat enough to see both the coastal mountain range and the Sierras.  The area is agricultural in nature and embrasses some of the best the central valley has to offer.
