Home

Dogwood Labradors started with a litter of 13 chocolate labs in 1992.  Since then I have learned much and come a long way.  I concentrate on sound show type labs and enjoy field training as well.  There is no kennel faciltity here.  My dogs enjoy time in large yards together when not in the house with me or enjoying some activity.  I try to keep my numbers down so that all dogs get personal attention from me on a daily basis.  As a result I often have older black or chocolate dogs available as well as puppies.

What Is important?

I breed puppies always for myself.  This means i intend to keep a puppy from each litter.  All breeding dogs are Xrayed for hips and elbows, and eyes examined annually.  genetic testing is also done.  The classic lab temperament is also very important. The standard calls for a dog that has no arguement with man or beast.

Diet is also very important and with all the pet food recalls recently it behooves all pet owners to be aware of what they are feeding their animals.  I feed no commmercial food at all. I prepare a natural diet for my dogs and strongly recommend the same for my puppy buyers.  I am always here to help you get started and will discuss this subject more later.

Being part of the family is so important to a lab.  That classic temperament cannot blossom if the dog is not an intergral part of the family.  A dog left alone to its own devices soon gets bored or frustrated and often ends up out of control and in a shelter looking for a new home.  It is my goal that this never happen to a dogwood puppy.

Upcoming litters and available dogs

After a two year hiatus from breeding I have a couple of litters planned.  Currently I have gorgeous black and chocolate puppies available who will be able to go to their new homes the last week of October.

I have just bred Pistol, daughter of a Champion Master Hunter to Caesar, son of a Champion Master Hunter.  This should be an exciting litter for those interested in hunting, or competition.  This black and chocolate litter should be born around the 18th of November and be able to go to new homes about 8 weeks later.
